Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The course provides students with the knowledge of the free movement of persons within the European Union, both as citizens and as workers. The different economic freedoms related to work will be examined in their context.EU normative and case law will be examined thoroughly, in an interactive way. All the students are expected to present a case from the Court of Justice. Special attention will be given to cases with Austrian origin.To understand the contents and goals of the course, it is recommended that students already have an advanced knowledge of labour and social security law (ideally already successfully completed the Modulprüfung Arbeits- und Sozialrecht), since the course builds on this knowledge. Knowledge in the field of European law is also an advantage.

The assessment is based on three partial performances:1. Presentation and discussion of an ECJ judgment
2. Questionnaires in Moodle / Kahoot in every session
3. Active participation in class, including resolution of practical cases
All materials are permitted, as the Seminar will have a practical focus on the use of regulations and case law.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Attendance is compulsory. Students may miss no more than one class (with apologies for important reasons two classes). Attendance in the first lesson is absolutely necessary otherwise the spot will be given to students on the waiting list (exceptions can be made for important reasons with prior excuse).The assessment will be as follows:
1. Presentation and discussion of an ECJ judgment (40%)
2. Questionnaires in Moodle / Kahoot in every session (35%)
3. Active participation in class, including resolution of practical cases (25%)For a positive assessment of the course, attendance and the achievement of 60% of the assessment criteria are necessary.
