Annual PhaNuSpo Retreat 2024

We start to introduce the University’s central support services in our monthly newsletter.

Sexual Harassment & Bullying Counselling Office: The University of Vienna provides an official

institution in the Counselling Office that offers psychological counselling in cases of sexual harrassment and bullying. No information is shared with anyone, not even within the university.

More points of call: A range of points of call dealing with diversity and anti-discrimination are available to the University of Vienna’s employees and students. They are listed in this overview according to the so-called "dimensions" of diversity (see also  "What is diversity?").

  • Funding Call: Research stays in France or Taiwan: The Institut français d'Autriche, in collaboration with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, offers early-stage researcher stays in France of up to 6 months, and the OeAD offers stays in Taiwan of up to one month.
    Application deadlines: France: 31 March 2024, Taiwan: 1 April 2024

A list of FWF (Austrian Science Fund) funds that may be of interest to you.

  • Alternative Methods to Animal Testing: With this fund the FWF is inviting researchers from all disciplines to submit innovative projects in the field of research and development of alternative methods to animal experiments.
    Application deadline: 13 May 2024 (2pm Vienna time)
  • Clinical Research: Gaining new scientific knowledge to improve clinical practice, therapy concepts, and treatment methods – the Clinical Research funding program offers researchers and clinicians the opportunity to conduct clinical studies without being dependent on commercial interests.
    Applications accepted on a rolling basis.
  •  Erwin Schrödinger: The Erwin Schrödinger program gives highly qualified postdocs the opportunity to pursue career-enhancing stays at internationally renowned research institutions, and also provides them with support after their return to Austria. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

MISCELLANEOUS

 Data management at the Universit of Vienna

  • PHAIDRA simplifies the management of research data: PHAIDRA is a long-term archive of the University of Vienna. It ensures that (research) data can be found, retrieved and reused by others. The PHAIDRA code has been available on GitHub since December 2023. To  the PHAIDRA article.

  • Comprehensive support for the management of research data:
    Managing research data can be a challenge: The amount of data in research is increasing. The University of Vienna is expanding its research data management (RDM) services with support, training, data stewards and storage infrastructure. To the research data article.
