DoSChem Newsletter

Dear DoSChem students, faculty, friends, and alumni,

we would like to share with you the latest DoSChem highlights, news and updates.

1. New at DoSchem

We are pleased to welcome new DoSChem students who joined our school either via our international call in March 2022 (16 students) or who were admitted to DoSChem in October (16 students).

We initiated our first DoSChem onboarding event (13.10.22) for all new doctoral students and also participated at the UniVie-wide Welcome Days (5.-7.10.22). We enjoyed the dialogue with our new school members and received new impulses. We are looking forward to our collaboration!

Welcome on board!

Next DoSChem admittance round: 1st March 2023

If you have new students please let us know, so we can approach them with our admittance paperwork.

4. Past DoSChem courses and events

  • The first DoSChem excursion was organized by the former Student Representative Team to Seibersdorf Laboratories in October. Read more here.
  • Together with Dr. Marco Masia from the Technology Transfer Office the first Entrepreneurship and Innovation workshop was completed.
  • We also offered a Scientific writing workshop by Katherine Tiede.

Both, the excursion and the workshops, were very well received and highly recommended by the students. The writing workshop just ended and we plan to organize similar events for the next semester.

5. DoSChem International Call and Recruitment

In March 2023 we will launch our third DoSChem call for doctoral students. Last year the faculty jointly advertised internationally 16 praedoc positions. More details for the 2023 call will follow in January.

6. DoSChem International Student Symposium

DoSChem students successfully organized the second International DoSChem Student Symposium for about 200 participants. It took place on 19.-20.09.22 at the Campus "Altes AKH" of the University of Vienna.

A huge "thank you" to the organizers of this event, including the former student representatives Leopold Dürrauer, Bianca de Jonckheere, Patrick Guggenberger and Alexander Petritsch, Iuliana Besleaga, Lukas Sallfeldner, Martina Crosta, Meira Mankinen and Mirela Encheva. This would not have been possible without the great help of our Master students on-site. Thank you!
