Newsletter No. 14

Dear VDTR Members

We are sending you the latest issue of the VDTR newsletter with three important updates: firstly, we would like to invite you to our upcoming events: both tomorrow's lecture with Prof. Kristina Stoeckl (Rome) and next week's book presentation and panel discussion are highly recommended.
Second: registration for the open research day closed on sunday. If you still want to register, please send an email to contact.vdtr@univie.ac.at. We will get back to you with the programme as soon as possible.

And finally: we would like to draw your attention to the changed date of the "application clinic", the new support format, in which we offer advice on possible third party funding and funding applications together with the KTF's third-party funding officer, Robert Wurzrainer. The next gathering will take place on 8 may, not on 24 april. it will again take place online from 1-2 pm via Zoom.

Sunny greetings

The VDTR Team

UPCOMING VDTR EVENTS

Stock) statt.

16 April 2024, 9.30 - 11am: Next VDTR and DSPL60 info session
On Tuesday, 16 April 2024 we will introduce you to the DSPL 60 "Theological Studies and Research on Religion" and the Vienna Doctoral School of Theology and Research on Religion VDTR. You will have the opportunity to talk to the staff of the StudyServiceCentres and the coordinator of the Doctoral School and ask questions. This information date is primarily aimed at people who have just started their doctoral studies or are not yet members of the VDTR. However, all other doctoral students are of course also very welcome!
Location: Schenkenstraße 8-10, HS 1, 5th floor

18 April 2024: Book presentation and panel discussion

To mark the launch of his new book, VDTR PhD candidate and United Methodist pastor Reverend J.J. Warren invites a range of people to reflect on the challenges and opportunities that a global pandemic presents for contemporary church life. While JJ explores questions of building community online, sharing his own experiences and those of his interviewees, the inter-denominational panel discussion with invited guests - Noreen van Elk, Katharina Payk, Jonas Simmerlein, Gregor Steininger -  will focus on how church communities can be inclusive across the digital divide, inviting different perspectives - such as gender and disability into the conversation. The event marks the launch of a new presentation format in which we seek to give the research of our doctoral students the spotlight it deserves.
Place: Dekanatssitzungssaal der Katholisch-theologischen Fakultät, Universitätsring 1, Stiege 8, 2.Stock.

8 May 2024, 1-2pm online: "Application Clinic"

Are you planning to submit an application for third-party funding in the near future? Are you currently working on a grant application? Do you need help with the formalities or the submission? We are holding a new support format with the VDTR, in which we offer advice together with the person responsible for third-party funding at the KTF, Robert Wurzrainer. If you want to join the next session, please get in touch via contact.vdtr@univie.ac.at

22-25 July 2024: Summerschool "Art as a form of expression of religions" at Schloss Seggau
...even if it's still a long way off: summer is coming and with it the opportunity to attend summer schools. The summer school (in German) of the "Religious Discourses in Western Democracies - The Initiative Christian-Jewish Study Week in dialogue with Islam" is dedicated this year to the topic of art as a form of expression of religions. VDTR doctoral students have the option of having part of the costs covered. Please get in touch with us at contact.vdtr@univie.ac.at if you would like to participate in this summer school.

POSSIBILITY TO PUBLISH ON THE RAT-BLOG

If you would like to share insights on your current research or any topics that interest you, the RaT-Blog warmly welcomes your contributions. RaT offers a low-threshold publication opportunity in the area of the "third mission," which focuses on communicating research to the public and is an increasingly important academic skill alongside teaching and research. The RaT-Blog has an ISSN number, making it citable and a great opportunity for publication, especially for Praedocs. Additionally, the Blog has now a collaboration with DerStandard and some articles get published there as well.

Don't hesitate to email Marian Weingartshofer with any questions or if would like to suggest an article: marian.weingartshofer[at]univie.ac.at
