As the current year draws to a close, we would like to express our appreciation for the outstanding contributions of the doctoral students and researchers. Your passion for knowledge, your commitment to research and your support have taken the PhaNuSpo doctoral school to new heights.

 

We look forward to the opportunities and challenges of the coming year. May be filled with even greater achievements, success stories, collaborations and continued growth for our doctoral community.

PhaNuSpo Christmas Party

 

The Christmas & Year End Party took place yesterday, 19th December at the Sky Lounge of the University of Vienna. A wonderful place on top of the rooftops with a spectacular view over Vienna at night.

Many thanks to all of you who were part of this beautiful and enjoyable event. Seeing you all at this get-together made it all the more special.

And a big thank you to our PhaNuSpo artists for their first designs for our PhaNuSpo mascot (see graphics on the left).

Podcast "Life Sciences and Science Life"

PhaNSpo Podcast "Life Sciences and Science Life"

 

The PhaNuSpo podcast team started working on the concept, graphics, music, etc. in mid-2023 and is now about to go on air with the "Life Sciences and Science Life" science posdcast.

 

The team of PhD students, along with various experts in the field, will talk about the latest advances in science and explore the challenges and triumphs of PhD life. Tune in for thought-provoking discussions and insights from experts in the fields of pharmacy, nutrition and sport. You can listen to "LIfe Sciences and Science Life" every third Thursday of the month during the semester.


The first episode on healthy ageing, by Shara Sosa Cabrera and Agnes Draxler, will air in early 2024.

PhaNuSpo Completion Grants

 

Congratulations to our Completion Grant holders for the last call in September 2023. They are Fabian Malfent, Nowras Rahhal, Thuong Phan Xuan (Pharmaceutical Sciences) and Rebeka Fejes (Nutritional Sciences).

Your hard work and dedication has really paid off and you are one step closer to your graduating. We look forward to your defences in 2024.

PhaNuSpo Travel and Mobility Grants

 

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to support 19 of our doctoral students in their international and career development and also to help them gain new experience and knowledge in 2023.

Retreat 2023

Annual Retreat 2023

18-19 September 2023, at the Meiers Oststeirischer Hof in Söchau, Styria

 

About 100 PhaNuSpo members, consisting of PhD students, PIs, SABs and children, actively participated in the two days of talks, poster sessions and workshops, which gave the participants the opportunity to interact, work on planned activities, network and socialise in a relaxed and beautiful environment. The organisers are delighted with the very positive evaluation and especially with the valuable feedback for changes, adjustments or suggestions for new items for the next PhaNuSpo Retreat(s).

 

So a big thank you to everyone for making this retreat a successful, pleasant, and enjoyable event. We look forward to our next retreat in a year's time.

Group Coaching: Wellbeing for Early Career Researchers to start in 2024


Feeling tired, isolated and stressed? Problems with your supervisor? Working 24/7 but not getting much done? Feeling stuck? Feeling guilty about taking a day off? Then group coaching is an opportunity to achieve the goal of a successful career with a focus on your personal wellbeing.

 

For our doctoral students at any stage of their studies who wish to monitor their own progress within a group of fellow students, we will soon be offering group coaching sessions with a trained psychotherapist and coach, Dr Markus Boeckle.
